The Embrace

1994
linocut
4" x 5-1/4"

This is one of my first linocuts, which I did in the early 1990s. I purposely made the figures androgynous because I wanted to make the print to have different meanings to different people. Some may see it as a sexual embrace of lovers, others may see it as a platonic one between friends, or perhaps a universal idea of an embrace between two people seeking comfort or showing agreement. The scan on the left is the same size of the print.
